My Work at KVP International
Motion Graphics, Animation, Video Editing
When working for KVP International, a KONG sister company, I had a lot of responsibility when it came to producing videos. We needed videos detailing our products, videos detailing our brand, and motion graphics to boot.
The motion graphic took a few months to get just right as I wasn’t super familiar with After Effects, but the end product works very well. This motion graphic would be the intro to many videos and website loading screens.
Along with our yearly catalog, we decided to extend our freshly redesigned branding to our web and display formats by producing videos of sketches summarizing the feel of each product category in a Wes Anderson-esque inspired style.
This project was ambitious, and we faced a lot of problems. First off, we had no sets. We had a nice photography studio the size of a walk in office, some basic key lights, and our determination. We definitely needed a bigger space, and when your office is connected to a massive warehouse that distributes your product, it wasn’t hard to find. We sectioned off 3 ginormous spaces and painted one white, yellow, and blue to represent our brand.
Next, actors. We didn’t have any. Despite my high school theater kid demeanor, we needed just the right kind of person in front of the camera. The “actors” we did have, were enthusiastic employees who knew how to handle the products and office dogs who have learned to tolerate (not by their own choice) wearing awkwardly shaped braces and cones.
In our few years of doing these videos, we really learned a lot. The quality slowly gets better each time as we upgrade our lighting and camera set ups, how to properly handle and edit them in Premiere Pro, how to compose and dress sets, how to handle actors and animals with little acting experience, etc. We really pushed passed our limits and increased our understanding of videography in general. We created a visual identity that is bright and inviting in an otherwise clinical industry. Vet techs and distributors adore the brand and give many compliments when visiting us at tradeshows.
None of it would be possible without my friends in the KVP Int. Marketing Team, Jeff Fisher, Jen Allen, Tess McIntire, Kinsley Graham, Brianna Jaquez, Will Schwing, and all of the wonderful coworkers and furry friends we bribed to be in our marketing material. We are truly Better Together.
